Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
Short version: Use the tools freely for any lawful purpose. Everything is provided as-is with no warranty. We're not liable for how you use the output. Don't abuse the service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using API Dev Utils ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
2. Description of Service
API Dev Utils provides a collection of free, browser-based developer utility tools including JSON formatters, encoders/decoders, security utilities, and more. All tools operate entirely client-side — no data you enter is transmitted to our servers.
The Service is provided free of charge with no registration required.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations.
- Process data you are not authorized to access or handle.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract content from the Service in a way that places unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
- Distribute malware, exploit code, or otherwise attempt to harm other users or third parties.
- Misrepresent the source or output of any tool in a fraudulent or deceptive manner.
4. No Warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the tools will be error-free, uninterrupted, or produce correct results in all cases. Tool outputs should be verified independently before use in production systems. You assume all responsibility for how you use the output of any tool.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, API Dev Utils and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, revenue, or profits — arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, given the Service is free, is zero).
6. Security Tools Disclaimer
Security-related tools (password generators, hash generators, JWT utilities, etc.) are provided for educational and development purposes. You are solely responsible for:
- Evaluating whether a tool's output meets your security requirements.
- Not using sensitive production credentials in any online tool, including this one.
- Verifying that generated hashes, tokens, and keys are appropriate for your use case.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, code, and content, is owned by API Dev Utils. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal or commercial development purposes.
You retain all rights to the data you input and any output you generate using the tools. We claim no ownership over content you process through the Service.
8. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party sites. Links do not constitute endorsement.
9. Service Availability
We make no guarantees regarding uptime or availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice. We will not be liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
10. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the applicable courts of competent jurisdiction.
